Africa State of Mind: The business of Comedy through the eyes of Takunda Bimha

In this episode of Africa State of Mind, Lee Kasumba has an in-depth conversation with Zimbabwean-born talent manager, and founder of the Johannesburg International Comedy Festival Takunda Bimha about producing the Pure Monate Show, and the ins and outs of the Comedy business.

Bimha says that in Zimbabwe, he was fortunate enough to go to a good private school.

Halfway through my BCom degree, I realised that I was living out someone else's dream he adds.

Bimha says that he graduated from University, but never continued with his LLB because he wasn't passionate about it.

Funny enough, my introduction into the world of Comedy was through the Pure Monate Show says Bimha.

He adds that it was a privilege to produce the second season, and to this day, David Kau and Kagiso Lediga still have people asking, when is the Pure Monate Show coming back?

The powers that be at the SABC, loved our ratings but didn't like our content so the Pure Monate Show got canned says Bimha.Africa State of Mind: The business of Comedy through the eyes of Takunda Bimha
